It’s Family Day here in Ontario, Canada, and we are taking the day to reflect upon family vacations.
Mar Mac wilderness vacations are fun-filled family adventures that start right from the minute you leave your home.
One of the best drives in North America is the one along the northern shore of Lake Superior. There are so many places to stop and explore this fantastic shoreline with your young ones. Leave plenty of time for your trip allowing for multiple stops between Sault Ste. Marie and White River, Ontario. Beach comb along the miles of sandy beaches, take a hike, visit a provincial park, view waterfalls, examine ancient Indigenous Pictographs and more! Once you arrive in White River, your younger members will LOVE riding in a float plane or on Via Rail’s Budd Car through the Northern Ontario Wilderness. So many memories will be made before they even set foot on the dock at Mar Mac Lodge.
Kids have a ball on the property. It’s fun to watch as they disengage from the digital world and enjoy themselves playing and exploring the natural world. There is a small shallow area right on site that is perfect for swimming or playing in the water. The lake has some other beach areas we can direct you to as well.
Fishing is fun too. The healthy fishery of Esnagi Lake allows your younger ones to remain engaged and active throughout a day of angling. Shore lunch is always a highlight and something as simple as bringing along a bag of marshmallows to roast over the lunch fire for dessert makes the day that much better!
Our kitchen staff understand that kids are sometimes the most discerning of eaters and will be sure to accommodate special requests children might have.
Run into a day of terrible weather? You’ll have no problem keeping everyone occupied at Mar Mac. The lodge lounge is open for young and old to hang out, play pool and board games, connect to our wifi service or even watch television.
