Offering a front row seat on one of Ontario’s most beautiful and unique rail lines, TRIPPING Train 185 takes viewers on a mesmerizing 480 km train journey northwest from Sudbury to White River. For some northern Ontario communities, the “Budd” train is their main connection to the outside world. These vintage rail cars are the only ones still working a regular route in North America. FRIDAY: Drive to Sudbury and overnight in the accommodations of your choice.
SATURDAY: Board the train in the morning and spend your day traveling in comfort through Northern Ontario’s pristine wilderness. Arrive at Mar Mac Lodge in time to settle into your cottage, enjoy a 3-course meal in our dining room, and make use of all Mar Mac amenities (see below) in the evening.
SUNDAY: Enjoy an early morning, hearty breakfast, pick up your Mar Mac lunch and board the train to return to your vehicle in Sudbury. Drive home.
Our cottages are equipped with all the amenities of home for your ultimate comfort. Pack nothing but yourself, we’ve got everything covered!
Northern Ontario boasts unparalleled beauty and wildlife. Esnagi Lake offers the chance to spot bald eagles, loons, lynx, black bears and majestic moose!
After dinner options:
1 – make use of one of our renowned 18 foot cedar strip boats with complimentary fishing gear and bait to enjoy an evening of angling. Not an angler? Feel free to use the boat to simply explore our beautiful lake and it’s wild inhabitants.
2 – use one of our canoes or stand up paddle boards to explore. One of the best ways to end a day at Mar Mac is floating on the water watching the loons swim by you as the sun sets overhead.
3 – simply hang out on site and enjoy being immersed in the forest.
4 – for an additional fee you may hire a guide. Guides are available for fishing or for lake tours and wildlife spotting.
*For those who opt to go fishing and want to bring fish home, fish processing and packing services are included.

Package includes: overnight accommodation at Mar Mac Lodge Wilderness Resort, use of all Mar Mac amenities, dinner, breakfast and a boxed lunch on day of departure, return rail fare from Sudbury, ON to Mileage 88 on Esnagi Lake, ON. Not included: transportation to and from Sudbury prior to and after your train journey, overnight accommodations in Sudbury.
