Hello and welcome to the new Mar Mac Lodge Wilderness Resort Blog. We have begun to count down the days until we can get back to Mar Mac and the beautiful shores of Esnagi Lake! Ice-out should occur around May 12-13 so we are currently busy, busy planning to ensure 2018 is yet another successful year. We can’t wait to see the familiar faces of our returning team and customers, and are eager to meet our new team members and vacationers alike.
2018 marks our family’s 46th season operating Mar Mac and its 60th season in the industry!!! We take great pride in offering the best of wilderness vacations offered in the Algoma Region of Northern Ontario. That said, we are constantly upgrading and will use this initial blog post to let you in on some of what we have planned for 2018.
This season we will take step one in upgrading our boat and motor combination. Our customers continue to stress how much they love our roomy, Geisler built, cedar strip boats. We have no plans at this time to move away from using these as they are perfect for the waters of Esnagi. A handful of new boats have been ordered for this spring. To make your time on the water more enjoyable, we are planning to upgrade the engines from 20HP to 25HP outboards. Several are on order for the 2018 season and we expect the entire fleet to be propelled by these bigger motors by 2020.
As times have changed, so too has our clientele. We accommodate more and more couples each year. To make our cottages more comfortable for couples, we have acquired hotel quality twin to king bed conversion kits. Any bedroom on site can now be converted into a luxurious king bedroom. Just be sure we have advance notice if this is something you would be interested in for your stay as kits are limited and offered at no charge on a first come, first served basis.
Attention Northend Outpost customers, we put in a new dock in 2017, and in 2018 you will notice a big change! We are equipping the outpost with a combination of 9.9 AND 20 HP motors, allowing you easier access to the entire lake. It will no longer be an entire day’s trip to take a run down to Mar Mac to say hello, purchase bait or supplies, or spend some time in our lounge to take advantage of our satellite TV and internet.
This blog will be updated periodically throughout the entire season so that you can see what is going on and when. Have a Mar Mac story you’d like to share? We’d love to feature your memories. Consider writing a post and sending it to us via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
