One of the questions we are most apt to hear is in regards to which package to choose when planning a Mar Mac Lodge vacation. Today we will focus on explaining a bit more about our American Plan Package and why or why not this plan would fit your group’s needs.
First off, let’s start with a brief description of what is included in Mar Mac Lodge’s American Plan Package. This is the package for those who want to be pampered and who do not mind their days being restricted to our dining room’s schedule. If you can’t bear to commit to returning to the lodge each day at meal times then this package is not for you.
The American Plan package at Mar Mac Lodge includes your accommodations (exact same cottage as groups who choose the Housekeeping Plan), daily housekeeping services (beds made, bathrooms cleaned, towels changed, floors vacuumed, dishes and kitchen cleaned, trash and recycling removed), 3 meals a day, and of course a beautiful 18 foot cedar strip boat, motor and gas for every 2 adults in your group.
Our cottages are spacious and comfortable and our housekeeping attendants keep them extremely clean and tidy. We have a variety of sizes to fit your group’s needs. Cottages are fully equipped. You will not want for anything! Even though you are staying on the American Plan your cottage will include a full sized kitchen with all the appliances, dishes and utensils you have at home. Feel free to use your kitchen to prepare your fresh caught fish or any other snacks you wish for. Should the temperatures drop, all cottages have either an oil fed or propane fed furnace to ensure your comfort. Washrooms are modern with sink, toilet and shower. Any cottage that sleeps 6 or more guests will have 2 full washrooms for your convenience. Hot water is provided by propane water heaters. All towels, linens, blankets, kitchen towels, etc. are provided. You need only to arrive with yourself, your clothing and your personal gear. Bedrooms contain 2 single beds and a dresser for your convenience. We do have hotel quality king bed kits on site allowing us to turn any bedroom at Mar Mac Lodge into a king size suite. King sized beds are limited and must be requested in advance of your arrival.
Our meals are served family plan in the main lodge. Breakfast is served at 7:30 am. We always have a small breakfast bar of baked items, fruits, yogurts, cereals, tea, coffee and juices ready for those who wish to simply grab and go. Most Mar Mac customers opt to “grab and sit”. We expect you to nibble on a few items from the breakfast bar while you await your cooked breakfast! Each day we offer up a breakfast special. It could be eggs and bacon, pancakes and sausage, French toast and ham, or similar. For those who either dislike, or for dietary reasons can’t eat the special, we ask you to speak up and we will ensure we find something that you can eat and will enjoy.
Many of our customers eat lunch on the lake either in the form of a shore lunch (there’s nothing better than cooking your fresh caught fish right on the shore of Esnagi Lake!) or bagged lunch consisting of sandwiches, fruit and various snacks. Should you wish, you can arrange to eat a cooked lunch in our dining room. Dining room lunches are served at 12 NOON. All lunches need to be arranged in advance with our kitchen staff. We typically ask you to inform us what you would like as a lunch choice at dinner time the day prior.
At 6:00 pm each evening we host our family-style dinner for all American Plan guests. Mar Mac Lodge’s dining room is a great place to relax after a day outdoors on Esnagi Lake. Enjoy your dinner in a friendly atmosphere and swap your day’s stories with other guests. Our dining room is a place where many friendships are made. We will start you off with an appetizer (salad, veggie platter, cheese platter, breads and dip, etc.). The main course will come next, consisting of a meat, a vegetable, a starch and of course Chef Evlyn’s homemade bread. Dinner is always followed up by a wonderful homebaked dessert. Evlyn is famous on Esnagi Lake for her pastries and pies! Every meal includes coffee, tea, juice and water to drink.
